Brian Gorda, vice president of engineering at Terra-Gen, is celebrating the success of the Edwards & Sanborn project, which represents a milestone in the field of solar energy storage in the United States. With a capacity of 875 megawatts and nearly two million solar panels, this initiative represents a significant advancement in the energy industry. Developed by Terra-Gen and executed by Mortenson, the project has been the result of exceptional collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Located on 1,860 hectares of land, the project incorporates state-of-the-art technology with over 1.9 million modules from First Solar. With an energy storage capacity of 3,287 megawatt-hours, the project offers a sustainable and efficient solution for the region’s energy needs.
This project will benefit various entities, including the city of San José, Southern California Edison, Pacific Gas & Electric Co., Clean Power Alliance, and Starbucks, among others. Additionally, the installation at Edwards Air Force Base represents a historic collaboration between the government and the private sector in the field of renewable energy.
Gorda emphasized the importance of the project: «This facility, which is now fully operational, represents a milestone in the energy sector. We are proud to have led this project and the benefits it will provide to the community.»
